Skip's Remote EdTech Jobs: April 6, 2024

Thank you for reading the EdSkipper, Skip’s newsletter about skipping from education to education-aligned careers. Every Saturday, I send out a list of curated remote jobs from Skip’s Job Board. I curate jobs from a database of 300+ companies each week. Premium subscribers receive access to all jobs in the Edskipper database and two additional emails a month with advice to help you apply more competitively.

When you load the main job page today, you’ll notice a few new features!

We’ve tweaked how location-specific roles display so you can now toggle between all jobs, all jobs and roles in your area, or just roles in your area. In addition, we’ve indicating when you have a filter activated (so you don’t panic that there are only 12 jobs on the site) and there’s a ‘clear search’ button so you can find the roles you’re looking for more efficiently.

We’re also launching email notifications to premium subscribers today — this allows users to save searches and receive emails (when you want!) about their high-priority searches.

I know folks are using it to learn about new jobs at their favorite companies, roles that match their experience, or keeping track of new jobs in their state. I have a search set-up for “6 figure jobs” that I enjoy looking at — not all the roles require edtech experience, either. Lots of ways to customize your search experience for what you’re looking for!

~I hope you find some fantastic jobs to apply to this weekend,

This Week’s Poll

I’m noticing so many more careers looking for educators who use AI in their classrooms. I know many of you are using AI for your job applications so I’m curious how you’re using it in the classroom. Have you jumped on the AI bandwagon or are you watching from the bandstand?

NEW COMPANY THIS WEEK

I regularly add new companies to the database of companies I source from every week -- these 300+ companies include large edtech companies and small education-adjacent non-profits and everything (relevant) in between. While I don't feature every company I add, I often share a company I’m really excited about.

MagicSchool AI caught my eye this past week in a LinkedIn post. They shared a use case for their product: making the rote part of writing IEPs and state-mandated reporting easier. Their mission is to utilize AI to reduce teacher burnout, and I’m all for automating any task that can be automated (without sacrificing important parts, of course).

They are an early stage start-up and are looking for candidates who can work in less structured roles. Which is probably why their job descriptions are a paragraph! It also means most of their roles are looking for candidates with teaching and industry experience — folks who understand education and how to create products for teachers and students but also have the business know-how to hit the ground running.

Their founder has k-12 teaching and administration experience and many of their core employees are former teachers too. Right now it looks like a fairly tight team — many of their employees have worked alongside each other for years. They’re in that early stage funding cycle where they’re now branching out beyond their immediate networks.

FULL-TIME JOBS

These are only some of the jobs I’ve shared this week from 300+ edtech and education-adjacent organizations! I post about 10-20% of the remote jobs I see each week for free on the job board!
