Skip's Edtech Jobs: Dec 2, 2023

Thank you for reading the EdSkipper, Skip’s newsletter about skipping from education to education-aligned careers. Every Saturday, I send out a list of curated remote jobs. Premium subscribers receive two additional emails a month with industry insights and advice to help you apply more competitively to the jobs you’re passionate about.
I had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend full of local activities — the tree lighting (we’re a coastal town in New England so of course our tree is made from lobster traps and decorated with lobster bouys), the annual holiday parade (got to judge the floats this year!), and a fabulous botanical gardens light show at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (seriously, it’s been named the best in the nation for good reason — 750k lights and the most amazing animal and flower and mushroom shapes).
And then I, probably predictably, got sick.
Which brings me to a programming note: the second November premium newsletter is coming out on Monday. (I know…that’s in December.) I’ve got a lovely draft that will be more coherent next week when my high-level thinking skills have returned. If your subscription ends between now and then (a few of you are on a trial that ends Sunday), don’t worry, I’ll make sure you receive it. I’ve got two newsletters scheduled for December so we’ll be back on track after the detour.
And then I’ll be creating that substitute folder with an extra newsletter post. (Because, ChatGPT is definitely not able to substitute write.)
~I hope you find some fantastic jobs to apply to this weekend,

Last Week’s Poll Results:
In the newsletter before Thanksgiving, I asked everyone why you’re leaving education. Some folks added comments to the poll, sharing a common frustration around increased workloads from student behavior and administrator demands which lead to lack of respect and a loss of autonomy on top of stagnating pay.
It amazes me how consistently educators are saying the same things yet how decision makers are not hearing them. But what heartens me is how many educators are starting to demand more. I loved this comment in particular, “I can’t wrap my head around not being able to make more when I’m one of the most highly respected and effective educators in the county…I deserve to be paid for my hard work and dedication.”

Speaking of, do you know I offer coaching? I have a few openings for December!
